There are many things to do in Tutukaka while staying at The Lighthouse Lookout. Below is just a snapshot.

On the property

Guests can relax on the beanbag chairs or sun loungers by the pool, or unwind with a soak in the spa pool.

We offer the use of kayaks and stand up paddleboards or a fish on the rocks below.

Activities

From the marina, catch a dive boat to the world-renowned Poor Knights Islands Marine Reserve, or hook into a deep sea fishing expedition, depending on the time of year.

Local Facilities
  • Dairies (or grocery stores) located in Ngunguru, Tutukaka Marina and Matapouri. Most local dairies also sell bait for fishing
  • Petrol is available in Tikipunga (last part of Whangarei) and at the Tutukaka General Store outside Tutukaka Marina
  • Surf/dive gear, bottle fills, clothing, art and crafts are at the Tutukaka Marina
  • The closest supermarket is in Whangarei, 30 kms drive
Beaches

The Tutukaka Coast has some of the worlds most gorgeous beaches that are never crowded! There are so many beaches to choose from, each with individual character and beauty.

The white sandy beaches include Matapouri Bay, Woolley’s Bay, Whale Bay and Whangaumu Bay.

The inner harbour pebble beaches are Pacific Bay, Kowharewa Bay and Church Bay (accessible via Tutukaka Block Road).

There is also the famous surf beach, Sandy Bay.
